wild earth hoops is a health and wellness program designed to build relationships with Self, the natural world and the community. Hoop dance has the ability to holistically enrich your life. Beyond physical awareness, hoop dance offers the gifts of peaceful meditation, creativity and imagination, connection to the natural world, supportive community values, and movement freedom.

The holistic value of hoop dance has many benefits:

  • BODY: Hoop dance is a fun, creative and unique way to achieve physical fitness. Hoop dance can be energetic, ecstatic and exertive as well as meditative, centering and relaxing. Some physical benefits of hoop dance are strengthen and toning core muscles, loosing up the hip and spine muscles, increased eye-hand coordination, balance and rhythm. With practice, a more experienced hoop dancer can execute lifts, tosses and jumps that develop dexterity and further tone the arms and legs.

  • MIND : Spinning in and out of the hoop can produce a euphoric and centering experience for hoop dancers of all ability levels. Beyond physical fitness, hoop dance promotes laughter, elevates mood, promotes a "Yes I Can" attitude and builds community-all aspects that promote positive mental health.

  • SELF: Most profound are the spiritual benefits that one can gain from hoop dance. More than a prop, the hoop can become a spherical partner in dance that fully creates the personal component of hoop dance. For some, hoop dance will always be a fun way to get fit. For a dedicated hoop dance practitioner, the experience can be transcendental and a powerful way to connect to the rhythms of the natural world.

More than just a child's toy, the hoop becomes a spherical partner, meditative prop and porthole to the natural world. wild earth hoops asks you to: 'Connect with the Hoop, connect with the Earth, connect with Self'

About the Co-Founders of wild earth hoops

Becca Obert Imbur first began hoop dancing two years ago as she began her journey into grad school. She began to use the hoop as an excuse to move after spending many hours in front of a computer. While the stress relieving benefits of hoop dance were immediate, other aspects of hoop dance began to surface. Mentally, Becca felt more centered after each hoop dance session allowing her to focus. Spiritually, Becca found spinning to be a powerful way to connect to the Universe. Most importantly, Becca found a group of beautiful, creative and reflective people who use the Hoop as a way to build, create and enhance their local and global community.
