Hoop Dance: Beyond the Basics 6 week series
Thursdays begininning October 11th to November 15th, 7-8 pm, Shadowlake Village Common House in Blacksburg, VA
Are you looking to take your hoop dance moves to the next level? In ‘Beyond the Basics’, students will learn intermediate to advance hoop dance moves. These include: chest/back rolls, dynamic stalling, ‘chi-ing’ the hoop, duck-ins, behind the back moves, advance jumps and tosses. Breaks and Reverses are explored at a deeper level that encourages students to ‘hit the beat’ and use the Hoop as a partner in dance. Hoops are made available by Becca for the duration of class. Comfortable clothing (yoga style) and a water bottle are highly recommended.

Thursdays begininning October 21th to Dec 2nd, 7:30-8:30 pm, YMCA in Blacksburg, VA
Hoop Dance is a low impact, high energy, core busting way to achieving physical fitness! Using oversized, weighted hoola hoops, Becca will guide students through a series of foundational exercises both on the waist, hips, chest and legs as well as basic hand hooping, tosses and jumps. This class series also includes helpful hints on exploring ‘Flow’, or how to combine hoop dance moves into a beautiful and hypnotic dance. If you are looking for a fun and creative way to blast calories (100 calories burned for every 10 minutes hooping), Hoop Dance is for you! Hoops are made available by Becca for the duration of class.

Hoop Dance: Mini Hoops (Poi-style Hooping) workshop
Sunday, December 5, 2010, 2-4 pm, Shadowlake Village Common House in Blacksburg, VA
Poi-style Hooping is spinning two hoops simultaneously in dance. Spinning two hoops is meditative to the dancer while mesmerizing to an audience. Becca will guide students through the foundational moves in this mentally and physically challenging form of hoop dance. These moves include off-body moves such as forward/backward spinning in same/split and opposite time, thread the needle, chase weave and corkscrew as well as on-body moves, jumps and tosses. Comfortable clothing (yoga style) and a water bottle are highly recommended.
